Technetix platform demonstrates symmetrical gigabit bandwidth on nbnTM Australia’s HFC network
Ultrafast trial incorporating Technetix DBx smart access technology highlights HFC upgrade path for nbnTM
25 July 2019, Albourne, United Kingdom – Technetix, the award-winning global technology supplier recently supplied nbnTM, the Australian broadband access network operator with DBC-1200S smart amplifiers for a Hybrid Fibre Coax (HFC) access network trial. Upload and download speeds of 1Gbps were achieved.
The DBC-1200S successfully demonstrated that nbnTM is able to boost its wholesale speeds using extended transmission bandwidth over its existing HFC network to symmetrical 1Gbps. This shows that the 2.5 million premises that have access to the nbnTM HFC network can be upgraded dramatically in speed and capacity with a network equipment upgrade.
The Technetix DBx platform is a modular access platform, which from one compact mainframe can be utilised as an RF amplifier, fibre optic node, Remote PHY device or PON access OLT. DBx has remote monitoring capability enabling operators to maintain network quality while allowing easy remote configuration, saving both time and money. The DBx uses the latest Gallium Nitride 2.5 technology making it extremely reliable and giving remarkably low power consumption. Over 650,000 DBx amplifiers and fibre nodes are embedded in networks worldwide.
Paul Broadhurst, Chief Executive Officer, Technetix, said: “nbn is a valued customer, and we are committed to bringing our latest innovations to them and their customers in Australia. The trial of our DBx smart amplifier solution reflects that commitment and demonstrates how we can help evolve nbn’s network now and in the long term to meet the increasing data demand of their subscribers.”
